Our training courses are suitable for people from all different backgrounds, ranging from beginners to experienced phlebotomists.

BEGINNERS

Many people are interested in becoming a phlebotomist, but find it difficult to break into the industry with no prior training or experience. The introduction course is designed for complete beginners with no prior medical or healthcare knowledge..

Our training gives candidates the confidence to work with patients, as well as giving possible employers tangible evidence of their abilities. We can not only offer training but also opportunities for practical experience and assist in gaining employment.

EXPERIENCED PHLEBOTOMISTS

We come across a lot of people who are already working as a phlebotomist, but have never received any formal training/certificate from their employer. They feel they are being overtaken by people who have received training, and are losing confidence in their own abilities.

It is important that these people take part in an accredited course to ensure they are up to date with the latest best practice and legislation, and reaffirm the knowledge they already have, which in turn gives them more confidence in their role. We also offer an advanced course for experienced phlebotomists who wish to add to their skill-set.

EMPLOYERS

Many organisations have need for phlebotomists:

  • The NHS, doctors’ surgeries and other private medical facilities need phlebotomists to help with diagnosis and treatment.

  • Research labs and universities often need to take blood tests as part of their studies.

  • The Armed Forces and various sporting establishments need to take regular blood tests as part of drug testing and other regular checks.

  • Home Care Agencies and Local Authorities like to offer training to their Home Care Assistants to enable them to take blood samples for the older people they care for, and save the need for a separate health visitor.

In these organisations, it is useful to have at least one member of staff who is qualified to perform the venepuncture procedure, rather than hiring freelance phlebotomists as and when they are needed.

These staff do not have to be clinically based. For example, we have trained receptionists in doctors surgeries, PhD students at universities, and team medics for the army.

An organisation can either send individual members of staff onto one of our courses around the country, or we can host a course in their own establishment.
